Crews completed the next stage of work at Last Chance Grade on U.S. Highway 101 in southern Del Norte County this weekend. Over the four nights of work, the road was raised 8 feet and paved. Inclement weather slightly impacted our progress, and we'll continue to raise the highway in the coming months. Motorists will notice a more gradual incline compared to the previous "ski jump" configuration. Now, work continues as horizontal drilling and installation of ground anchors will begin on the ocean side of the highway.
